The full expression of site is what drives us in the decisions for each wine we produce. The base wine for our Sonoma Coast Brut Rosé was made from 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonany, harvested in early August and whole cluster pressed to stainless steel tank. Sonoma Coast Brut Rosé is a traditional method sparkling wine.The base wine is natively fermented in tank to before the tirage bottling for secondary. Part of wine is aged on lees for 18 months prior to disgorgement, while the remainder will age longer on lees for future release. 2 grams of dosage were added at bottling.
The 2023 vintage was a cooler than most recent vintages. On the Sonoma Coast, the growing season began late after a cold and wet winter. For the most part, these conditions persisted for most of the growing season, which delayed harvest for over a month in most areas of California. 2023 was a phenomenal vintage that made wines with beautiful purity and great structure.
Located in the cool climate of Carneros, the organic vineyard sources for our Sonoma Coast Brut Rosé are 3 miles from the San Pablo Bay. Coastal proximity allows for cool day time temperatures in the vineyard which results in excellent physiological ripening. This allows natural aromatics to be preserved in wine of great natural acidity and rich flavor. The Pinot Noir is picked early to produce a bright and aromatic base wine for this sparkling wine.
